SPFX Tool Kit Role Playing System
SPFX Engine
The term SPFX is the japanese term for special effects in films, mostly referring to to the science fiction films and kaiju-egia. But the term can cover anything with special effects in it from the tokusatsu, horror, and anime. The term fits the tool kit workings of the modular system. Each module of additional rules adds a special effect, or SPFX, to a game. It gives a group the ability to play with as light or crunchy rules as need. The group can pick the SPFX rules that fit the type of world, or worlds, they want to create. Giving the setting a mood and the players the bonuses they need.
The SPFX engine and system is designed to help develop worlds based on action and adventure found in manga, anime, tokusatsu, action, and thrillers. The rules are designed to embrace and enhance many of the tropes and cliches found in the source materials the group wishes to base a game around.
When does the SPFX engine stop being AnimeinA and become Zen and the Art of Mayhem? AnimeniA is meant to stay light, simple, and fast to play as possible. Zen and the Art of Mayhem has more crunch and complexity giving more detail and options to work with and develop characters with.
AnimeinA
AnimeinA is designed to be a rules light fast and simple to play. Characters are easy to generate, they have some room for growth and development, but the focus is on easy to learn and play. SPFX can be added to the system to help create the settings and atmosphere desired.
Zen and the Art of Mayhem
Zen and the Art of Mayhem is designed to be more detailed. The core rules remain the same but complexity is added on to give characters more uniqueness and ability to grow and develop with an evolving campaign. Groups on need to add SPFX that fit the world they are creating. Many rules and supplements can be ignored when they will not bring anything to the over game a group wishes to create.
